Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--Authorities are called to the Budget Host Motel in Storm Lake Friday evening to a disturbance.

On scene Storm Lake Police found that 34-year-old Joe Thompson of Alta and 30-year-old Shannon Dean of Storm Lake allegedly engaged in a fight with each other and during the fight Thompson reportedly strangled Dean.

Following an investigation police arrested Thompson and charged him with a class D felony count of Domestic Assault Strangulation Causing Bodily Injury and Public Intoxication 2nd Offense. He was held in Buena Vista County Jail without bond.

Dean was arrested charged with Domestic Assault and Public Intoxication and was also held in jail without bond.


A 3rd person in the motel room, 48-year-old Richard Banwell of Alta, was allegedly in possession of a pipe used to smoke meth. He was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.


A subsequent search of the motel room turned up additional drug paraphernalia used for smoking methamphetamine, 50 caliber ammunition, and a security camera that is believed to be stolen.Additional charges are anticipated.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--Storm Lake Police are paged out early this (Monday) morning in reference to a 911 call where screaming was heard on the line.

Authorities made contact with 24-year-old Si Fang of Storm Lake, and an adult female on scene. Police were advised that Fang allegedly assaulted the female following an argument, and struck her several times in the back of her head and then reportedly held her against her will in a bedroom. The victim was able to scream to other occupants in the residence who then entered the room and found Fang on top of the victim and pulled him off.


Following an investigation police arrested Fang and charged him with Domestic Assault and False Imprisonment. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held without bond.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--No injuries are reported following a knife threat at La Juanita’s Saturday night.

Storm Lake Police allege 27-year-old Jorge Oneill Melesio-Perez of Storm Lake allegedly threatened another patron in the business and then displayed a knife in a threatening manner. The victim was able to disarm Perez and call the police.


Perez was arrested and charged with a class D felony count of Going Armed With Intent, Disorderly Conduct, and Public Intoxication. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $5,600 cash bond.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--A pot possession charges is filed following the execution of a search warrant Friday evening by Storm Lake Police.

Upon executing the search warrant police located and seized a small amount of marijuana and over $1,000 in cash believed to proceeds from alleged illegal drug sales.

53-year-old Guy Johns of Storm Lake was booked into Buena Vista County jail on a charge of Possession of Marijuana. His bond was set at $1,000 cash.
