Spencer, IA (KICD)--The Spencer City Council gave the okay to move ahead with numerous puchases at their Monday night meeting.
The purchase of a 2nd Automated Solid Waste Truck and new solid waste and recycling containers was approved. The price for the truck along with 4,100 64-gallon containers for solid waste and 4,100 95-gallon containers for recycling came in at over $508,000 which was approximately $130,000 under budget.
The winning bid for the 2013 Deerfield 4th Addition PCC Paving Project also came in well under the budgeted price of $239,963. Deloss Construction won with a bid of $176,406.17.
The council took action on the West Beltway, West 18th Street and West 4th Street projects. The projects are being done in conjunction with Clay County and came in at a cost of over $5.237 million, which was approximately $590,000 under the engineers estimate.
Police Chief Mark Lawson noted they had another in-car camera unit go down this past weekend.
Public Works Director Mark White ran down some of the work performed last year by his department.
The council scheduled a Progress & Development Committee meeting for 5:30 next Monday to review proposals received for the purchase & occupancy of the Freeman Building. Bidding closed at 4:00 Monday with one unopened bid received.
