A Progress & Development Committee will precede the regular session with discussion to be held on the Freeman Building. With the Spencer Police Department's pending move to the SMU building sometime this or early next year the city must decide what to do with the Freeman Building (Spencer Police Parking Garage) that is located on 1st Ave. West.
Options on the table include demolishing the building to provide more parking or accepting proposals from the community stating the amount they wish to pay for the building as well as what they would do with it. In addition, the proposal would need to include that they would fix the roof and make improvements to the exterior of the building. Staff has received inquiries about this building.
A public hearing is slated on approving a permanent storm water drainage easement be granted to Spencer RP Realty, LLP, who is now the owner of the Pioneer Building. This easement is needed to allow them to discharge their storm water into the drainage basin that was built on the northeast portion of the Green Industrial Park.
A number of items aimed at initiating the 2013 Deerfield Park Fourth Addition PCC Paving Project are also on the docket.
Tonight's Progress & Development Committee meeting starts at 5:45 and will be followed by the regular council meeting at 6:30 in the council chambers of Spencer City Hall.
