Soy-Based Tire To Be Marketed By Goodyear



Spencer, IA: (Sep 24, 2012) - A two-year partnership between Goodyear and the United Soybean Board (USB) looked at the feasibility of using soy oil in tires. The results were positive, and Goodyear now intends to introduce a soy-based tire.
 
USB New Uses Chair Russ Carpenter says the research resulted in a tire that is better for the environment and lasts longer, too. He says it highlights soy’s versatility in the marketplace.
 
 
If all goes as planned, Goodyear estimates it could replace 7-million gallons of petroleum with soy oil.
