Emmetsburg, IA (KICD) - A phone call about issuing a new social scurity card results in law enforcement heads up.
The Palo Alto County Sheriffs Office received a report from a concerned citizen about a phone callon issuing new social security cards. The caller asked for bank information and also told that they needed to know the social security number to put on the new card.. The citizen did not give out any of that information to the caller.
The Social Security office was contacted and stated they were not doing the procedure. It's been determined to be a scam, and authorities urge not to give out personal information, such as social security numbers or bank account information over the phone.
Anyone receiving a call such as this should contact their local law enforcement .
