Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--A number of searches over the weekend by Storm Lake Police, the Buena Vista and Clay County Sheriff's Officers leads to a number of meth related arrests.
Officials received information that 44-year-old David Specketer of rural Alta and 51-year-old Ruby Cowen of Storm Lake were traveling in their vehicle with precursors to manufacture methamphetamine. A traffic stop turned up drug paraphernalia and a small amount meth on Specketer.
Searches at homes in Alta, Linn Grove, two Storm Lake addresses, Peterson and Specketer's car turned up firearms, a partial meth lab, meth, meth precursors, pot, and drug paraphernalia.
After investigation Specketer was charged with a class B felony count of Conspiracy to manufacture more than five grams of methamphetamine, and class D felony counts of Possession of a firearm as a felon and Possession of precursors. He was held in the Buena Vista County Jail on $110,000 bond.
Cowen was held on a $5,000 bond for Possession of precursors.
31-year-old Jesse Ingersen of Linn Grove and 49-year-old Tom Henderson of Storm Lake were jailed on charges of Conspiracy to manufacture more than five grams of meth, a class D felony charge of Possession of precursors, meth and marijuana possession. Ingersen was held on a $102,000 bond. Henderson's bond was set at $106,000.
29-year-old Heather Hyde of Peterson faces two county of Child Endangerment, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. She was held in Clay County Jail on a $5,300 bond.
Others assisting include the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Storm Lake Fire Department, the Storm Lake Public Safety Lab Response Team, the Storm Lake Police Department K9 Unit, the Iowa Department of Human Services, and the Buena Vista County Attorney’s Office.
The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests and charges are anticipated.
Sibley, IA (KICD)--A Friday morning mishap lands an Ashton woman a trip to the hospital.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says 18-year-old Payge Blumeyer of Ashton was driving a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am eastbound on 180th Street, stopped at the intersection of Opal Avenue in Sibley at 8:25 a.m. 58-year-old Karen Trei was driving a 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass, southbound on Opal Avenue, approaching 180th Street and was struck broadside by Blumeyer’s vehicle in the intersection.
Trei sustained possible injuries and was taken to the Osceola Community Hospital to be evaluated. Blumeyer was given a citation for Fail to Yield upon Entering through Highway.
Sibley Fire and Rescue and Sibley Ambulance assisted at the scene.
Webb, IA (KICD)--A Sioux Rapids woman has been charged in connection to a September 19th accident after receiving blood results.
50-year-old Lori Heying was heading south shortly before 10:00 p.m. in the 4600 mile of 240th Ave. and purposely struck the east side of a bridge in Webb, rolling the SUV onto its passenger side.
On Friday morning Heying was charged with O.W.I. 2nd offense, Open Container, Reckless Driving and No Proof of Insurance. She was cited and released.
Rock Valley, IA (KICD)--A Saturday afternoon utility terrain vehicle mishap injures three from Rock Valley.
The Sioux County Sheriff's Office says 13-year-old Kassie Johnson was driving a 2011 Roketa side by side UTV westbound on 300th Street. Johnson attempted to make a left turn onto Fig Avenue where she lost control and rolled the UTV onto its
passenger side.
Two passengers, 14-year-olds Taylar Van Otterloo and Madison Zeutenhorst were taken to Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley by the Rock Valley Ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. Johnson received minor injuries but did not seek medical attention
Johnson was issued a citation for illegal operation of an all terrain vehicle on the roadway.
