Estherville, IA (KICD)--A sexual assault investigation lands an Estherville man in Emmet County jail.
On Tuesday Estherville Police and the Iowa Department of Human Services concluded an investigation of a Sexual Assault that began on July 25th. The investigation was initiated after the mother of a 8-year-old reported that her daughter had been sexually assaulted.
56-year-old John Marvin Hanson has been charged with a class B felony count of Sexual Assault in the 2nd Degree. The charge is punishable by confinement of not more than 25 years in prison.
Hanson was placed in the Emmet County Jail and awaits an initial appearance before a Magistrate.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD) -- A Storm Lake teen is charged after an assault incident.
On Tuesday afternoon, Storm Lake Police were dispatched to 506 Russell Street, on an alleged assault.
Upon arrival, the female victim told officers she had been physically assaulted and knocked to the floor by her 14-year old son, who also allegedly broke a computer device of hers.
Police then arrested the boy, charging him with assault and 5th degree criminal mischief. He was taken to the Youth Detention Facility in Cherokee pending an appearance in juvenile court.
Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)--An Arnolds Park man faces a felony charge.
A criminal complaint filed August 4th by Arnolds Park Police with the DIckinson County Clerk of Court notes that 57-year-old Steven Powers was charged with a class D felony count of willful injury and domestic abuse assault. The complaint alleges Powers unlawfully assaulted his wife and caused bodily injury.
Powers made an initial appearance and has since posted a $1,000 surety bond. A preliminary hearing will be held later this month.
Alpha, MN (KICD)--Two are taken to the hospital following a Sunday evening motorcycle versus deer mishap.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office says 39-year-old Matthew Prentice of Ceylon struck a deer on his 2006 Honda 1300 VTX on 600th Avenue just north of the state line.
Prentice and 35-year-old Angela Aukes of bancroft was taken to Sanford Jackson Hospital by their ambulance unit.
Alpha Fire Department 1st Responded and multiple good samaritans assisted on scene.
