The Clay County Sheriff's Office says 34-year-old James Lau was heading north in the 3300 mile of 165th Avenue shortly before 7:00 a.m. in a 2011 Ford Ranger pickup. Lau attempted to slow for the stop sign but was traveling too fast for the icy road conditions and lost control spinning 90 degrees to the north. The pickup then entered the north ditch at the T-intersection, rolled approximately 180 degrees and came to rest on its driver side facing west.
Lau was taken by Spencer Ambulance to the Spencer Hospital for possible injuries.
Maurice, IA (KICD)--Two suffered minor injuries following a Sunday morning accident north of Maurice.
The Sioux County Sheriff says 22-year-old David Theisen of Le Mars was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Impala southbound on Highway 75 at 7:22 a.m. Theisen stopped behind a disabled semi-tractor trailer; he made a U-turn and began driving northbound on Highway 75. At this time 36-year-old Rosalva Hernandez of Sioux Center was driving a 1994 GMC Jimmy northbound on Highway 75.Hernandez was unable to stop and struck Theisen’s vehicle.
Both drivers were taken to the Sioux Center Hospital by the Sioux Center Ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. Theisen was cited for making an illegal U-Turn. Hernandez was cited for failing to reduce speed for the road conditions.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--An early Tuesday morning incident has landed a Storm Lake man in jail.
At approximately 12:30 a.m. Storm Lake Police were called to an unknown problem. Upon arrival of police they met with the reporting party and determined that a domestic disturbance had occurred. Police were told that the reporting party and her husband had been involved in an argument at which time her husband, 30-year-old Hung Tran, allegedly choked her and then threatened her with a knife. Tran had fled from the scene prior to the arrival of police but returned while officers were still on location.
Following an investigation police charged Tran on class D felony charges of Domestic Assault / Strangulation and Going Armed With Intent. Tran was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held without bond.
No injuries requiring medical attention were reported to police.
