The Clay County Sheriff's Office reports that 23-year-old Michael Matthews was driving northbound in the 3900 mile of Highway 71 in a white 2003 Dodge Ram pickup pulling a stock trailer. Matthews failed to stop for a Yellow 2009 Schwans truck that was slowing to make a left hand turn. Matthews struck the Schwans truck and then fled the scene.
Matthews' truck was later found at a rural farm place leading to charges of leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to stop in a safe and assured distance.
The Spencer Police K-9 unit assisted.
Peterson, IA (KICD)--Peterson City Hall was recently burglarized.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office says sometime between January 10th and January 15th, entry was made into Peterson City Hall. Entry was gained by kicking out a glass panel in a side door and unlocking the door. $40 in cash was stolen.
Sheldon, IA (KICD)--A Sheldon man was arrested Wednesday by the O'Brien County Sheriff's Office.
61-year-old TImothy Elbert was arrested for OWI 2nd offense and possesion of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Elbert was released from the O'Brien County Jail Thursday after posting a surety bond.
