Estherville, IA (KICD)--A Bancroft man has been arrested on drug charges by Estherville Police.
On Wednesday 29-year-old Jeremy Allen VanTrump allegedly attempted to gain access to another person's bank account. Drug paraphernalia was found on his person.
VanTrump faces four counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, one charge of identity theft, and one count of public intoxication. He appeared before the Emmet County Magistrate and was released after posting the $11,625 cash bond.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--A Storm Lake teen has been accused of making a written bomb threat.
Police were called to the Storm Lake High School Monday afternoon and were directed to a men’s restroom in the school where a message had been written on a wall stating “I’m going to bomb Casey’s." On that day police searched all of the local Casey’s Stores and alerted area agencies of the written threat. Police and school officials reviewed security camera data and subsequently a series of interviews were conducted over the next several days. During the investigation police secured handwriting samples also.
On Thursday after investigation 14-year-old Gora Akwai was arrested on a class D felony count of Terroristic Threats. Akwai was processed and released to a parent pending a court date.
The case has been forwarded to the Juvenile Court Authority.
Marathon, IA (KICD) -- No one was injured as a result of an apartment fire, in Marathon.
Just before 8-pm Wednesday, the Buena Vista County Comm Center received a report of the apartment fire at 101 Sparta Street. It was reported the building was evacuated.
Marathon Fire Department and the Buena Vista County Sheriffs Office responded to the scene. The fire was extinguished. The cause is undetermined, but foul play was not suspected.
Damage is estimated at $1500, which was mostly caused by smoke.
Sheldon, IA (KICD)--A Sheldon man was booked into jail on a pair of assault charges on Tuesday.
Sheldon Police arrested 30-year-old Matthew Colvert for assault causing bodily injury and 2nd offense domestic abuse assault.
Colvert was released on an unsecured appearance bond of $3,000.
Worthington, MN (KICD) -- One person was injured from an accident on Interstate 90.
The Minnesota State Patrol says around 12:40 (this) Thursday morning, an eastbound 2007 Honda Civic, driven by 22-year old Mimi Sayavong, of Sergeant Bluff hit a pole near the Highway 60 overpass.
An eastbound 2009 Subaru Forester, driven by 52-year old Jon McDermott, of New Market Minnesota, then hit the fallen pole. A 15-year old passenger in the Honda received minor injuries in the crash. Both drivers were uninjured, and there was no damage estimate on the vehicles or the pole.
Assisting at the scene was the Nobles County Sheriff’s Office..
Worthington, MN (KICD) -- A pair of Worthington burglaries have authories investigating.
According to the Worthington Police Department, the two burglaries took place during the early morning hours of Wednesday, at Nutripro Biosystems, located on Oxford Street, and the Subway on Humiston Avenue.
A burglary in progress was discovered by a Nutripro employee around 3-am, as someone was allegedly seen trying to load something unknown into a truck. The whereabouts of the truck is unknown.
The second burglary was discovered shortly after 7:30-am, by a delivery person. A door at the rear of the Subway was pried open, and the businesses safe was gotten into. It's unclear how much money was taken during the burglary.
