The Jackson County Sheriffs Office said around 2:20 Saturday morning,. a Deputy traveling south on Highway 71 near the Iowa border, noticed a snowmobile driving in the ditch opposing traffic. When the deputy tried to stop the snowmobile, the driver, 47-year old Timothy Wahl, fled on the snowmobile, then on foot.
The snowmobile was located on County Road 25, in Peterson Township. The Sheriffs Office then deployed their canine unit to pursue the footprints from the snowmobile.and located Wahl in a field, approximately three-fourths of a mile southwest of where the snowmobile had been found.
Wahl arrested and charged with a felony count of Fleeing a Peace Officer in a Motor Vehicle, 3rd degree Refusal to Test, and 4th Degree Driving A Snowmobile While Impaired
Wahl was booked into the Jackson County Jail, where he remains under a $3,500 bond.
Sibley, IA (KICD) -- A Melvin woman has been charged after a domestic incident.
The Osceola County Sheriffs Office said 25-year old Paige Dather was arrested on multiple charges, after reportedly striking her husband. Upon investigation, it was determined Dather allegedly left her children unattended, and was operating a vehicle while intoxicated. It's also alleged Dather resisted deputies during the arrest.
As a result, Dather was charged with Child Endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor, along with OWI 1st offense, Domestic Assault, and Interference With Official Acts.
She was booked into the Osceola County Jail on a $3600 cash bond.
Estherville, IA (KICD) -- Two male juveniles from Estherville have been arrested after a Burglary investigation.
On Tuesday, the Estherville Police Department concluded a Burglary investigation, of a pair of incidents at the same building.On October 13th and again on November 4th, 2012, burlgaries were reported at the building at 9 North 5th Street that is occupied by Sun and Surf, I-Wireless, Campus Cleaners and the Hair Essentials.
During the burglaries, damage was done to the building, 24 cellular telephones were stolen and an undetermined amount of cash was taken.
Upon subsequent investigations, Officers charged 2 male juveniles, ages 13 and 16, each with 2 counts of 3rd Degree Burglary, class D felonies. Both juveniles were cited into juvenile court and released to their parents.
Primghar, IA (KICD)--A Primghar man faces a serious assault charge following an early Tuesday morning incident.
The O'Brien County Sheriff's Office arrested 26-year-old Jesse Warnke shortly after 3:30 for assault causing bodily injury.
Warnke was released after meeting with a judge on Tuesday.
Orange City, IA (KICD)--An early Wednesday morning blaze at a hog confinement near Orange City causes $50,000 in damage.
Shortly before 6:00 a.m. the Orange City and Alton Fire Departments and Orange City Ambulance were called out to 4142 Jay Avenue. The building was currently undergoing construction improvements. No animals were in the confinement at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire has been determined as accidental.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--A domestic assault lands two from Storm Lake in jail.
Storm Lake Police were called to Mo’s Bar Tuesday evening after police received an anonymous call saying 24-year-old Lindsay Cobb had been assaulted at another location and was at the bar and maybe injured.
Upon arrival of Police at Mo’s they located Cobb in the bar and upon speaking with her learned she had an injured wrist as a result of an alleged assault from her boyfriend, 28-year-old Sabino Enrique Martinez, at their home. Police allege that during the argument Cobb threw a candle holder at Martinez, striking him, and he assaulted Cobb causing an injury to her wrist.
Cobb was transported to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center by paramedics where she was treated and released. Police then transferred Cobb to the Buena Vista County Jail where Storm Lake Police charged her with Domestic Assault 2nd Offense and Public Intoxication. She was held without bond.
Martinez was located later and charged with Domestic Assault Causing Injury. He was booked into the county jail and held without bond.
