A Clay County Deputy initiated the stop for a traffic violation having prior knowledge that the registered owner, 54-year-old Brad Burginger, had a suspended drivers license. Pot was found during a patdown and a subsequent search of the vehicle.
Burginger was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia, Failure to Wear a Seatbelt, No Proof of Insurance, and Driving Under Suspension. He was held in Clay County jail to appear before the Magistrate.
Hospers, IA (KICD)--Additional details have been released in connection to Monday afternoon's lockdown situation in the MOC-Floyd Valley School District.
22-year-old Ricky Lee Carver of Hospers has been charged with 1st degree harassment after making the comment of , “I want to shoot a bunch of people, my family and myself” on Facebook. Officers were immediately dispatched and Spalding Catholic Elementary school and MOC Elementary were put on lockdown for about 20 minutes on Monday. Carver was located walking near his home shortly thereafter and taken into custody without incident.
Carver was booked intow Sioux County jail and released Tuesday evening after posting a $2,000 bond.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--A trio of Storm Lake juveniles are arrested for spray painting gang graffiti.
On Tuesday Storm Lake Police responded to a report of gang graffiti sprayed with blue paint on the trunk and license plate of a vehicle. On scene authorities observed other property had also been sprayed with gang graffiti. 13-year-olds Miguel Jimenez and Manuel Barron-Gomez and 12-year-old Alex Cervantes-Alvarez were each found nearby with paint on their hands.
During the investigation, the juveniles admitted to spray painting graffiti earlier in the night on at least twenty residences, vehicles, businesses, utilities, public streets, park equipment, and signs with damages totaling $4,000.00. It was also determined that the paint had been stolen from a local store here in Storm Lake.
All three juveniles were referred to Juvenile Court Services on two class D felony count of 2nd degree criminal mischief. Jimenez was also charged with theft 5th, a simple misdemeanor, for the theft of the paint. This investigation is ongoing.
Hospers, IA (KICD) -- A Hospers teen is injured after a single vehicle rollover.
The Sioux County Sheriffs Offfice said Tuesday morning, around 7:50, they investigated a motor vehicle accident on Highway 60, two miles southwest of Hospers.
17-year old Jacob Kooiman was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo southbound on Highway 60
when he lost control of the vehicle, entering the west ditch and rolling.
Kooiman was transported by Hospers Ambulance to the Orange City Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.The Chevrolet sustained approximately $5,000 in damages. Kooiman was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.
