Rock Rapids, IA (KICD) -- A Sibley man is jailed after the theft of over a quarter million dollars.
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office says 49-year old Dale Timmerman was arrested on charges of 1st Degree Theft, a class C felony, and Forgery, a class D felony.
Timmerman allegedly stole check from two separate accounts, forging signatures on the checks, and cashing them. The thievery occurred from January 1st, 2011 to May 31st, 2012. The total amount taken is $283,374.76.
Timmerman is currently in the Lyon County Jail, on a $50,000 cash bond.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--A Storm Lake man gets belligerent with Police Sunday evening.
A report of loud music led Police to encounter a large number of individuals drinking and talking in the backyard of a residence. While the music was turned down the owner, 38-year-old Edifredo Maldonado, was going to be cited due to a series of previous complaints.
Maldonado allegedly became belligerent and refused officers instructions as he was taken to the squad car for paperwork, pulled away from an officer, and attempted to run towards the backyard. An officer pursued and took Maldonado to the ground where he resisted the officer at which time the officer sprayed Maldonado with a chemical reagent. Maldonado was subdued and taken to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center where he was treated for exposure to a chemical reagent and released.
Maldonado has been booked into Buena Vista County jail on charges of Disorderly Conduct and Interference With Official Acts. He was held on a $600 cash bond.
No injuries were reported.
Worthington, MN (KICD)--A Heron Lake man falls asleep at the wheel in a Friday morning mishap in Nobles County.
The Minnesota State Patrol says 18-year-old Cody Malcolm was heading west on Highway 60 shortly after 11:00 a.m. Malcolm fell asleep and drifted off the road to the left where he hit a sign.
Malcolm was taken to Worthington Hospital with minor injuries.
George, IA (KICD) -- A George man was arrested after single vehicle accident.
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office says the wreck occurred Saturday evening at 7:45. Mark Freeman was westbound on 210th Street in the 4100 block, in a 2005 Mazda.
Freeman allegedly blacked out, causing the vehicle to go into the south ditch, striking a culvert. Freeman was transported to Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids for further medical evaluation.
Afterwards, Freeman was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The Mazda received approximately $2000 in damages.
