Kings of Leon star joins new band

Kings of Leon star Jared Followill has started up a new band.

The bassist founded Smoke and Jackal with longtime pal Nick Brown, who fronts rock group Mona, to keep himself busy after wrapping a tour with the Sex On Fire hitmakers.

Followill tells Rolling Stone, "I knew that I would go a little bit stir-crazy just not doing anything and not having any artistic outlets... It was super spur-of-the-moment... (Brown) sings amazing and I sing horribly, so we figured we could just go... and try it one night."

The duo will release its six-song debut, EP1, next month and Followill is confident he and Brown will record together again in the future.

He says, "We will go back and do another EP at some point. It might not be this year. It might not be next year. Us being friends, it's bound to happen again." (PAW/WNWCRS/ZN)
