ILCC Program Expansion

Algona, IA (KICD)--The Board of Trustees of Iowa Lakes Community College approve additional programs at their monthly meeting Tuesday.

The massage therapy program, which started on the Spencer campus in January of 2004 will be expanding to the Algona campus.  This will start as an evening and weekend program. The daytime program will remain in Spencer.

An Event Planning program which is targeted for the Spirit Lake campus will start to move forward.   College officials have been working for about a year with a very active initial advisory committee on the development of curriculum for this program.
The college will give the Iowa Department of Education notice of intent to start the diploma program and will follow that action with a formal application in about a month.  It is hoped that the program could receive approval so that classes could start in January of 2013.

In finances, the Trustees approved the 2013 Fiscal Year General Unrestricted Fund Budget and also approved a bid on a proposal for a computer network back-up and recovery system.

The next regular monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees will be on Tuesday, August 21st at the Administration Building Boardroom in Estherville.
