Spencer, IA: (May 23, 2012) - Hormel Foods has posted record second-quarter profits.
The Austin, Minnesota company reported net income of nearly $128 million for the quarter that ended April 29th.
Although profits from processing hogs fell sharply, earnings from Hormel’s turkey business jumped 50 percent, reflecting the way the U.S. turkey industry continues to enjoy fatter margins than its counterparts in beef, pork and chicken.
Hormel is the third-largest U.S. meat processor by sales volume.
