Clay County Auditor Marge Pitts reminds citizens that Iowa has same day voter registration.
Here in Clay County all residents of Spencer and the townships of Summit, Riverton, Sioux, and Meadow will vote at the Clay County Regional Events Center.
All Iowans can find their polling place at the Iowa Secretary of State's website or by contacting their respective County Auditor.
The 4th District Congressional race is highlighted by Republican Steve King and Democrat Christie Vilsack. Independent Martin Monroe of Battle Creek was nominated by petition.
Statehouse races of note in the listening area include Democrat Steve Bomgaars and Republican Megan Hess battling the the District 2 seat. The District 7 House seat features Republican Ted Gassman and Incumbent Democrat John Wittneben.
A trio of Iowa Supreme Court Justices are up for retention with David Wiggins the target of a highly public campaign by anti gay marriage advocates following his part in a 2009 ruling which paved the way for same sex marriage in the state.
In Clay County Republican Incumbents Del Brockshaus and Joe Skow will be joined on the ballot by Democrat Bradley Smith to fill a pair of open seats on the Clay County Board of Supervisors. Incumbent Republican Sheriff Randy Krukow will face opposition from Steve Koenig who was nominated by petition. Barb Brechler and Michael Hildebrand are competing to fill a vacancy on the Webb City Council.
In Dickinson County Democrat Incumbent Dave Gottsche will face off against independent Jack Rees for the District 3 County Supervisor seat. Republican Ann Ditsworth and Independent Janelle Treganza will vie for the County Recorder’s position. Gary Taber, Kay Allen, and Herb Stewart will compete for an opening on the Lake Park City Council. Roger Rieck, Blaine Strampe, and Danette Tolan are looking to fill two open seats on the Orleans City Council.
In the Palo Alto County Sheriff's race Democrat Lynn Schultes, Republican Darrin Adams, and Independent candidates Russ Jergens and Todd Suhr are on the ballot. The District 3 Supervisor seat will be decided between incumbent Republican Ed Noonan and Democrat Leo Goeders. The District 5 Supervisor ballot features Republican Bertha Mathis and Democrat Linus Solberg. A question is also on the ballot that would call for taking the number of County Supervisors from five to three.

State election officials say early voting has broken a record this year with over 613-thousand ballots already cast as of yesterday. The record was set four years ago at 545-thousand. Clerks are warning the spike in early and absentee votes may cause delays for certified results in tight elections.
Polls are open from 7:00-9:00.
