Duran Duran axe show as Nick Rhodes falls ill

Rockers Duran Duran were forced to cancel their show in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Sunday as keyboardist Nick Rhodes battled ill health.

The Grammy winners were due to perform in Atlantic City at the Revel Ovation Hall on Saturday night, however, they pulled out at the last minute after Rhodes fell sick, and now the British band has axed another gig while the musician aims to make a full recovery.

A post on the group's official website reads, "British rock band, Duran Duran, have been forced to cancel tonight's show at Stage AE, in Pittsburgh, because keyboardist Nick Rhodes, who has been unwell for the past few days, has been advised by doctors that he should not perform, for the second night in a row.

"Rhodes, who along with the rest of the band, has been on the road for almost two years in support of their latest 'All You Need Is Now' album, has been experiencing an array of symptoms that doctors now believe could be the result of a viral infection."

But Rhodes feels distraught about disappointing his fans, adding, "I was hoping that after missing last night's show, I would be feeling up to traveling and performing today, but having seen the doctor again first thing this morning, I have been told that I need to continue to rest, pending further tests tomorrow.

"I feel completely helpless over the situation and all I can do is apologize to our fans - who I hope know that we would never let them down unless it was totally unavoidable. This is the final leg of our world tour - and I can't tell you how disappointed I am with this outcome."
