Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--Felony drug charges are filed against two from Storm Lake.

On July 16th Storm Lake Police assisted the Iowa DHS with an investigation into the welfare of some children in town.  On the 16th authorities responded to 502 B West 8th Street where children were present while illegal drugs were allegedly being used.  Drug paraphernalia was located at the home along with an infant and 4-year-old who were tested by DHS staff for exposure to alleged methamphetamine use in the residence. Those tests subsequently came back positive.

39-year-old Cathleen Cortez was located Monday with a small amount of meth and drug paraphernalia.  She faces two class D felony counts of Child Endangerment, and additional charges of possession of meth, drug paraphernalia, and Interference with Official Acts as she physically resisted officers at the time of her arrest.  Cortez was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail where she was processed and released after posting a $11,600 cash bond.

27-year-old Jorge Melesio-Perez was charged with 2 counts of Child Endangerment and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  He was released on a $10,000 appearance bond.
