Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)--Dickinson County Democrats have decided against running a candidate for the vacant Recorder's position.

Bob Koepp. who serves on the executive committee for Dickinson County Democrats, tells KICD News that after meeting earlier this week it was decided not to put the resources into an uncertain situation.



A petition is currently being floated around Dickinson County looking to combine the Recorder and Auditor's position . A minimum of 1,508 eligible Dickinson County voters must sign the petition by Friday to get the question on the general election ballot. Ann Ditsworth has been nominated on the Republican side.

The opening was created when longtime Recorder Jan Bortscheller retired earlier this Summer.
