Contact FSA Office Before Haying & Grazing CRP Ground

Spencer, IA: (Aug. 02, 2012) - The U.S. Department of Agriculture this week opened millions of Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) acres to haying and grazing in response to the Midwest drought.

All Iowa counties became eligible for haying and grazing, as of Thursday, August 2nd.

Clay County Farm Service Agency (FSA) Executive Director Les Zobrist says it is important for producers to keep a couple of things in mind as they attempt to deal with drought conditions.

Zobrist outlines how many acres in Clay County are in the CRP.

Zobrist says CRP contract holders may be able to sell baled forage from their CEP acres.
