Clay County Crash



Spencer, IA (KICD) -- An Albert City woman escapes injury after a fiery car crash.

   The Iowa State Patrol says the accident occurred last Saturday, as 62-year old Francine Lundberg was northbound on 320th Avenue in Clay County, in a 2000 Buick LeSabre, when she lost control on the gravel road, resulting in the vehicle entering the east ditch and flipping over.

   Lundberg was able to exit the vehicle through the driver side window, before it became engulfed in flames.  The accident was reported by witnesses of the accident scene, and also reported the driver sitting in the ditch. 

  Webb Fire & Rescue was called and extinguished the fire, and the driver refused medical treatment.  Upon investigation, it was determined the driver said she experienced confusion and memory loss, having no idea how she got to that location.  Officers suspect the impairment was due to prescription drugs, and after an evaluation, determined it to be evident.,

 . The investigation continues and charges are still pending,pending toxicity results from a DCI lab..
