Spencer, IA (KICD)--The Clay County Fair received six awards at the 122nd Annual International Association of Fairs and Expositions Convention
For the awards program, the more than 3,000 member fairs of the IAFE are split into five categories based on attendance. The Clay County Fair competes in Division 3, which is limited to fairs across the globe with an attendance of 250,000-500,000.
A quartet of 2nd place finishes include the fair's radio commercials, the new daily pocket guides, a series of photos taken by fair photographer Judy Hemphill featuring the 4-H dairy goat show in the Agricultural Photo Series category, and a series of photos taken by Hemphill featuring the $1,000 Cinnamon Roll Contest in the Competitive Exhibit Photo Series category.
Third place finishes included a photo taken by fair marketing manager Rebecca Peters that featured the corn display in the Agriculture Building. This award came in the Competitive Exhibit Display Photo category. The Fair’s entry of the “Discover the Greatest” official poster came in 3rd place in the poster category.
Fair Manager Jeremy Parsons, who currently serves as vice chair of the IAFE Young Professionals Initiative steering committee, received recognition as a McKoy Scholarship recipient.
The 2013 Clay County Fair is slated for September 7th through the 15th.
