Spencer, IA (KICD)--Today is Veterans Day at the Clay County Fair as the fair will honor America’s active and retired military personnel with free admission, a parade, special programs and the Oak Ridge Boys’ Tribute to the Veterans.
Attendance for Sunday checked in at 60,397, a new record for the 1st Sunday at the fair. This leaves the two-day attendance mark at 122,983.
The Veterans Day Parade of Honor will start at 10:00 a.m. The Veterans Appreciation Program will start at 11:00 a.m. in the Events Center Ballroom. A Veterans Presentation titled“Salute to the Flag” along with a presentation of Korean War History with Jack Frandsen starts at 1:00 in the 4-H auditorium which will also host Sgt. Adam Norgaard at 2:30 for a presentation by the name of “I Was There – Afghanistan/Iraq”.
The GoldStar Amusements Midway opens at 3:00 with a special of 10 Rides for $15.
Glen Henriksen & the Galaxy Band will perform in the Events Center Ballroom at 2:30.
Mobile marketing exhibits will be on display all day long north of the Events Center.
The Awesome Ag show takes place at 10:00, noon, 2:00, and 4:00 at the Ag Learning Center.
Featured acts at the Farmers Bank Stage include Divas Through the Decades at 10:30, 1:30, and 4:30 and Sami Dare at noon, 3:00, and 6:00.
Featured acts at the Northwest Bank Stage include Becky Schlagel at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. with Jason Schommer performing at 11:30, 2:30, and 5:30.
The U.S. Cellular Plaza features Spoon Man at 11:00, 1:30, and 5:00.
Wildlife Wendy & Her Tropical Birds will be North of The Depot building at 12:30, 3:30, and 5:30. The KICD Courtyard stage features Classic Country at 11:30 and 2:30.
Farmer Bob and Rock-It the Robot will be strolling the fairgrounds throughout the day.
The 4-H Film Premiere will take place at 7:00 tonight in the 4-H Building.
Tonight's featured Grandstand act is a tribute to veterans featuring the Oak Ridge Boys with special guest Jimmy Fortune of the Statler Brothers at 7:30 p.m.
