Band Parents Accident

Orange City, IA (KICD) -- Two parents hauling items to a California parade are injured after being hit by a car.

According to ktiv.com, two MOC Floyd Valley band parents were hurt while hauling the school's instruments and uniforms to their performance in the Rose Parade.

Superintendent Gary Richardson says Kevin and Nancy Jansen were stopped at a rest area in Barstow, California.

The couple were using their semi-truck to haul the band's gear to Pasadena.

They were walking on the sidewalk at the rest area when a car lost control, came over the curb and struck them.

Richardson says the Jansens were taken to the hospital for injuries but have been released.

They're with the band, which arrived in Pasadena Thursday night. The gear is now there too.

The Pride of the Dutchman will perform, wooden shoes and all in the Tournament of Roses Parade that's held on New Year's Day.
