Sibley, IA (KICD)--A pair of Bigelow, Minnesota teens are injured in a SUV versus pickup accident that took place Wednesday afternoon.
The Osceola County Sheriff's Office says 16-year-old Madison Fisher was heading east on 170th Street east of Golf View Drive in Sibley as 57-year-old Bruce Harper of Sibley was heading west 170th east of Golf View in a 1988 Chevy Pickup. Fisher lost control of a 1989 Chevy Blazer on the snow covered roadway, crossed the center line, and hit Harper's pickup head on.
Harper’s vehicle, owned by Ned DeBoer of Sibley, Iowa sustained approximately $2,000 damage. Fisher’s vehicle, owned by Jeffrey VanGelder of Bigelow, Minnesota sustained approximately $2,000 damage. Fisher and a passenger, 16-year-old Megan Fisherwere both taken to the Osceola Community Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. Sibley Fire and Rescue and Sibley Ambulance assisted at the scene.
Ruthven, IA (KICD)--An Akron man is injured in a Thursday morning accident one tenth of a mile west of 370th Street on Highway 18 in Palo Alto County.
The Iowa State Patrol says a 2008 Pontiac driven by 31-year-old Richard Fegley and a 2007 Tractor Trailer driven by 41-year-old Michael Braswell of Kansas City were heading west on 18 in blizzard conditions shortly before 11:00 with zero visibility. Both vehicles met an eastbound semi that was partially in their lane. Fegley slowed down to turn right but Braswell wasn't able to stop and he rear ended Fegley. The semi had no contact and did not stop.
Fegley suffered what are described as non-incapacitating injuries. His car was totalled. Braswell had a $10,000 damage estimate.
