Spencer, IA (KICD)--Clay County Sheriff's Deputies are called to a van versus car accident at the intersection of Highway 18 and 240th Avenue Thursday afternoon.
It was found that 71-year-old Milo Peters of Hartley was stopped at the north stop sign on 240th at Highway 18 when a semi turning off 18 from the east block his view of 18. Peters pulled away from the stop sign southbound in his 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan and into the path of a 2003 Ford Mustang driven by 18-year-old Garrett Reed of Albert City that was heading west on 18. Reed then hit the van on the driver's door.
Peters was taken to the Spencer Hospital with a possible minor injury. He was cited for failure to yield His car had a $4,000 damage estimate. Reed's Mustang sustained $5,000 in damage.
The Spencer Comm Center, Spencer Ambulance, and Dickens Fire and Rescue assisted on scene of the mishap which took place at 1:33 Thursday afternoon.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--Storm Lake police had to chase a suspect they tried to stop for a traffic violation Thursday night.
Authorities say 28 year old Christian Wunder from Storm Lake wouldn't pull over for officers in the 1500 block of East Milwaukee Avenue.
Wunder reportedly led police on a chase with speeds over 50 mph in 35 mph zones.
Police say Wunder drove to his grandparent's home, parked the car and that's when the foot chase began. It ended with the use of a Taser.
Wunder was taken to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released back to authorities.
A records check turned up two warrants for Wunder's arrest. One from Dickinson County for a probation violation and the other for failing to appear on a forgery charge in Buena Vista County.
Storm Lake police filed counts of failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, interference with official acts, driving while suspended, and a stop sign violation. He's also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while suspended.
Wunder is being held without bond in the Buena Vista County Jail.
Harris, IA (KICD)--The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office is looking into a pair of burglary complaints that occurred at the Harris Elevator over the past week.
The first complaint was reported on October 26th when someone broke into a building on elevator property by cutting a padlock. Some hand tools were stolen. The 2nd complaint was reported on Thursday where entry was gained into the office by prying open a door. An undetermined amount of cash was stolen this time.
Hospers, IA (KICD)--A Guatemalan national is found to be working at Premium Iowa Pork in Hospers by the Sioux County Sheriff's Office.
29-year-old Agustin Ortiz-Quxian of Worthington presented documents for employment that belonged to another person back in 2007.
Ortiz-Quxian was arrested Tuesday and charged with Identity Theft and Forgery, both Class D Felonies.
Hospers, IA (KICD)--A Hospers man is arrested on class D felony charges of identity theft and three counts of forgery by the Sioux County Sheriff's Office.
After investigation it was found that 31-year-old Lazaro Castro-Rivera had applied for employment and was hired in December of 2007 at Premium Iowa Pork in Hospers. He is alleged to have used a fraudulent Social Security number and California driver’s license to gain employment. Castro is a Mexico national.
