Alan Morphew and The Hit play a free-to-the-public Birthday Dance for Dan and Larinda Mueller on Saturday March 20, 2010.
[Estherville] – This year March 20 marks the first day of spring and that is just one reason to come out and celebrate at The Elks Lodge in Estherville.
On Saturday, March 20, 2010 come out to The Elks in Estherville to enjoy some great music at Dan and Larinda Mueller's March Birthday Bash with the band "Alan Morphew and The Hit" from 8pm to 12am.
A local favorite, Morphew is very excited to be bringing his band to his hometown, Estherville for this event. Dan and Larinda wanted to do something special for their birthdays this year (Dan's 50th and Larinda's "not 50th") and after seeing the band play in Okoboji last fall, they asked if Alan would bring his band down from Minneapolis for a big open-to-the-public dance. It's sure been a cold winter and this should be a fun event to help us all kick off spring.
Alan grew up in Estherville and now resides here after spending many years working in the music industry in Los Angeles, CA. He has toured the United States and performed and recorded in Germany. He is an award-winning singer / songwriter, most recently receiving a "Best Americana Album" nomination for his current CD "The American Dream" in the 2009 Los Angeles Music Awards. He has appeared on albums by Neil Young, TSOL, and many others.
The show will feature Alan's dynamic voice backed by a high energy band that will make you want to get up and dance. The band will be playing Alan's own very catchy songs as well as some of the best classic and modern rock cover songs.
The band is composed of some very talented musicians. On guitar is Peter Dotson, a Dubuque, IA native living in Minneapolis and on drums is Mariano Flores, originally from Mexico City and now residing in Minneapolis. New band member J.D. Shaffer will be playing bass guitar. "We're really excited to have J.D. in the band now. He's a great musician and really adds a lot." Shaffer, another Iowa native living in Minneapolis will be performing his first shows with The Hit that weekend.
Morphew will be singing and playing guitar. "I'm really excited to be bringing the band to my hometown. Every show is special with these guys and this one will be no exception. We hope to usher in a beautiful spring and celebrate the birthdays of Dan and Larinda and everyone else who has recently celebrated a birthday."
