Gruver, IA (KICD) -- A Sioux City woman was injured by safety equipment in her car, after an accident .
The Emmet County Sheriff says shortly after 4:30 Monday morning, 24-year old Dianna Payne was driving a 1997 Buick LeSabre westbound, on Highway 9, east of Gruver, when a deer ran out in front of the vehicle.
Payne was unable to avoid collision, and the impact causing the car's airbags to deploy, causing injuries to Payne. She was taken to Avera Holy Family Hospital where she was treated for injuries to her ribs and waist.
The Buick was totalled in the mishap, and Payne was cited for Driving While Suspended, and Failure To Prove Security Against Liability.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--A Storm Lake woman is arrested in connection to a Sunday morning hit and run.
An on patrol Storm Lake Police Officer observed where a vehicle had driven off of the roadway and struck a street sign at the intersection of West 7th Street and Vestal Street. Parts from the suspect vehicle remained at the scene.
The car was located at the home of 23-year-old Adriana Najera who initially refused to answer the door. A tow truck was summoned and the vehicle was impounded pending an investigation. Once the tow truck arrived a woman exited the residence and identified herself as the alleged driver of the vehicle.
Najera was subsequently charged with Striking Fixtures Adjacent to a Roadway, Failure to Leave Information, Failure to Maintain Control, Texting While Driving, No Proof of Insurance, and Driving While Suspended. She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $1,500 cash bond.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--Storm Lake Police are called to a disturbance involving a person armed with a knife at the Budget Inn late Saturday evening.
Witnesses and a victim stated that 20-year-old Sebit Othow of Storm Lake was a guest at the motel when he allegedly became agitated and displayed a knife threatening other people in the room. Othow was overpowered by other guests in the room and removed from the motel room. Othow reportedly departed and then returned a short time later when he allegedly punched and broke a glass window. The broken window subsequently injured the victim’s face. Othow then fled from the area.
Othow was taken into custody after showing up atthe Buena Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment of a lacerated hand early Sunday morning.
Charges on file include a class D felony count of Going Armed With Intent, Assault Causing Bodily Injury, and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. Othow was booked into the Buena Vista county Jail on an $8,000 cash bond.
The victim at the motel was transported by ambulance to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment for injuries sustained in the disturbance.
