Jackson, MN (KICD) -- Icy conditions lead to a single vehicle mishap near Jackson.

The Minnesota State Patrol said the accident on Interstate 90, occurred around 11:38 Sunday morning, near Jackson. 41-year old Patti Follmuth, of Ringsted, was driving a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta, westbound.

As she was going downhill, she lost control due to icy conditions, and skidded off the road into the ditch. Follmuth then went through a fence, down a steep embankment and onto the ice of the Des Moines River.

She received non-life threatening injuries. There was no damage estimate given for the Volkswagon.

Spencer, IA (KICD)--A pair of girls suffered possible injuries in a Sunday morning accident.

Spencer Police says 34-year-old Nicole Staedtler of Spencer was heading east in the 600 block of East Park Street in a 2008 Dodge Caravan shortly before 8:00 a.m. At this time 39-year-old Kim Simington of Spencer was headed in the opposite direction and swerved to avoid a parked semi. Simington lost control of his 200 International truck on the 100 percent ice covered roadway and his rear end struck the front of Staedtler's van.

A pair of juvenile females sustained bumps to their heads. Both were examined by Spencer Paramedics on scene and did not require additional medical attention.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--A number of charges have been filed against a Cedar Rapids woman who rear ended a car and fled.

Storm Lake Police allege that 39-year-old Stephanie McCauley initially stopped and tried to persuade the other driver that there were no damages. When he insisted on calling police McCauley got into her vehicle and fled. The 2nd driver phoned 911 and followed. McCauley was eventually stopped by a Buena Vista County Deputy who heard the radio traffic.

McCauley was booked into the Buena Vista County jail for Leaving the Scene of an Accident, No Insurance, No Registration Card, Driving While revoked, and Possession of Xanex.

No injuries were reported.

Spencer, IA (KICD) -- Icy conditions result in a vehicle striking a Spencer business.

Spencer Police said around 7:01 (this) Monday morning, a 1994 Chevy C1500, driven by 26-year old Dale Meyer, of Spencer turned east off Highway Boulevard, trying to park in the parking lot, on the south side of Winkleblack's..

Meyer couldnt stop the vehicle, due to icy conditions, and ran into the side of the building, damaging the door and the structure around it. A tow truck was called to remove the vehicle from the building.

There were no injuries as a result of the mshap. Damage to the structure was estimated at $1000. the pickup received aproximately $1700 in damages.

Sioux Center, IA (KICD)--A Sioux Center teen has to be life-flighted following a Saturday morning accident.

Sioux County Deputies were called to the intersection of Hickory Avenue and 370th Street, two miles northeast of Sioux Center, at 10:46 a.m. It was found that 17-year-old Joselyn Zomermaand of Sioux Center was heading south on Hickory Avenue in a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix, and then stopped for the stop sign at 370th Street. As Zomermaand drove into the intersection she was struck by a westbound 2007 Pontiac Vice driven by 20-year-old Carolyn Meendering of Hull.

Zomermaand sustained serious injuries and was transported by the Sioux Center Ambulance to the Sioux Center Hospital. She was later flown to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls by Sanford’s helicopter. Meendering sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Sioux Center hospital by private vehicle.

Sioux Center Police assisted on scene of the accident which remains under investigation.

Spencer, IA (KICD)--Two from Spencer were arrested on drug charges over the weekend.

Early Saturday morning 45-year-old Randy Newcomb was arrested by SPencer Police for criminal mischief & possession of drug paraphernalia. 35-year-old Jennifer Kleinsasser was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were taken to the Police Department and placed in Clay County jail.

Peterson, IA (KICD)--A Peterson man has been jailed for violating his parole.

On Friday the Clay County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Department of Corrections with a probation search at the home of 38-year-old Michael Lindgren. Lindgren was charged with possession of burglar Tools, stemming from a traffic stop on January 19th, and for tattooing without a license, stemming from a December incident.

Lindgren is currently being held in the Clay County Jail without bond.

Estherville, IA (KICD)--Estherville Police have charged 32 people after investigating a report of a loud and large party.

Officers determined that 20-year-old Benjamin May was the person renting and responsible for the residence. He was charged with Keeping a Disorderly House and released.The other 31 people present in the house were charged with Frequenting a Disorderly House.


All adult defendants were cited to appear in Emmet County Magistrate Court at a later date. The female juvenile was cited into juvenile court and released to a family member.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--Drug charges are filed following an early Sunday morning traffic stop by Storm Lake Police.

While speaking with the driver, a strong odor of burnt marijuana was noticed. A subsequent search turned up approximately 3 grams of pot and a burnt marijuana cigarette.

After completing the investigation, police determined that 34-year-old Rhett Jolliffe, 21-year-old Derrick Bolden, and 19-year-old Demetrius Tribble were smoking marijuana prior to being stopped. All three were taken into custody without incident and taken to the Buena Vista County jail and charged with possession of marijuana. They were each booked and held on $1,000 bond.

Jolliffe further failed a series of field sobriety test and submitted to a chemical analysis urine. Jolliffe faces further charges pending lab results.
