Dickens, IA (KICD)--Two suffer minor injuries in a Sunday morning motorcycle mishap.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office says 19-year-old Tony Eddy of Rockwell City and passenger Taylor Tackett of Jolley were traveling east on B-24 on a 2003 Yamaha motorcycle. In the 2600 mile a deer crossed the roadway causing Taylor to take evasive actions and lose control of the motorcycle.
Both were taken to the Spencer Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries. Drug paraphernalia was located at the scene and a possession charge was levied against Tackett.
Dickens Fire and Rescue assisted on scene.
Sherburn, MN (KICD) -- A Sherburn woman is injured in a 2 vehicle accident.
The Minnesota State Patrol says the accident occurred around 8 this (Monday) morning, on the north side of Sherburn.
A 1994 Freightliner semi, driven by 30-year old Jose Rosas of West St Paul, was eastbound on County Road 13, when it collided with a northbound 2005 PT Cruiser, driven by 63-year old Catherine Cain.
Cain received non-life threatening injuires as a result of the crash.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--Numerous felony drug charges are filed by Storm Lake Police Saturday.
Authorities were acting on information that illegal drug activity was occurring at 516 ½ Lake Avenue. One of the occupants, 39-year-old Lazette Harris of Chicago gave officers a false name and birthdate. Police further allege they observed drug paraphernalia used to smoke crack cocaine in the apartment. The residence was secured and 48-year-old Darchele Groce, age 48 and 46-year-old Randall Jones of Storm Lake were taken along with Harris to the police station for questioning.
A police investigation alleges that Harris brought crack cocaine from Chicago and sold it to Groce and Jones who then smoked the crack cocaine just prior to the arrival of police. Following an investigation police charged both Groce and Jones with Gathering Where Controlled Substances are Used, a class D felony, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. They were booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $5,300 cash bond each.
Police further charged Harris with 2 class C felony counts of Delivery of Crack Cocaine, Gathering Where Controlled Substances are Used, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Interference With Official Acts. She was booked into the county jail on a $105,600 cash bond.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD) -- A Varina man is jailed on felony charges.
Storm lake Police took a report last Monday of an alleged sexual assault, which occurred during the summer of 2011. Information received indicated that 19-year old Esgar Garcia had inappropriate sexual relations with a 14-year old girl in Storm Lake.
On Friday, Police arrested Garcia, and charged him with 3rd degree Sexual Abuse, a class C felony. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD) -- Several people are charged after a large gathering.
On Sunday morning Storm Lake Police were sent to West 4th Street and Barton Street, in response to a person being struck with a club.
Upon arrival, police located the victim, and learned the assault and related disturbance were at another location. Police responded and subsequently contained several people, and stopped several vehicles trying to leave the location.
It was determined the victim was struck in the head with a wooden pole, which was found and seized. Buena Vista County Paramedics were called to the scene to attend to victim, who denied treatment.
Police then arrested 25-year old Jose Ramos-Ortiz of Storm Lake on charges of Assault While Using a Dangerous Weapon. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $2000 cash bond.
Also arrested on Public Intoxication charges was 25-year old Manuel Bermudes of Storm Lake, 27-year old Ronal Arteaga of Whittemore, and 29-year old Manuel Guerrero of Alta. All werebooked into jail on $300 cash bonds.
Mallard, IA (KICD) -- An investigation leads to the arrest of a Fort Dodge man.
The Palo Alto County Sheriffs Office investigated information of a possible confrontation in Mallard. After the investigation, Deputies arrested 55-year old Mark Bernard, charging him with Possesssion of a Controlled Substance-Marijuana, and Drug Paraphernalia.
He was booked into the Palo Alto County Jail, awaiting an initial court appearance.
West Bend, IA (KICD)--A Whittemore woman is accused of stealing prescription drugs from Assisted Living in West Bend.
On Thursday 36-year-old Tammie Illg was arrested by the Palo Alto County Sheriff's Office on a class D felony count of 3rd degree burglary, possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of a prescription drug.
Illg was released from Palo Alto County jail and will appear in court at a later date.
