Spencer, IA (KICD) -- Three people were taken to the hospital following a two vehicle accident.
The Clay County Sheriffs Office says the mishap occurred around 10:45 this (Thursday) morning, in front of the Morton Building site on Highway 71.
A 2003 Chevy Venture, driven by 86-year old Eugene Keiper of Winona, Minnesota was southbound on Highway 71. A 2009 Chevy silverado 1500 pickup, driven by 52-year old Randall Husman of Aurelia was northbound on Highway 71, then attempted to make a left turn across the median and southbound lanes of 71, and failed to yield to Keiper, who tried to avoid the collision.
Keiper , along with two passengers, Jill and Vernon Keiper were taken to Spencer Hospital by Spencer Ambulance with non-incapacitating injuries. Husman was not injured in the wreck.
Damage to the Venture was estimated at $7500, while the Silverado received approximately $4000 in damages.
Wallingford, IA (KICD) -- Five people are injured after a Friday morning accident.
The Emmet County Sheriff's Office says around 2:43-am, a report came in of an accident on Highway 4 in Wallingford.
A northbound 2009 Dodge pickup, driven by 19-year old Nathan Howard of Estherville crossed the roadway, entering the west ditch. The pickup then struck a driveway, going airborne and colliding with a tree, coming to rest on the passenger side on the southbound lane of Highway 4.
Howard and 4 other passengers in the pickup, 19-year old Natalie Reardon of Jackson, MN, 18-year old Tyler Shryock and 18-year old Casey Origer, both of Estherville, and 17-year old Rebecca Richter of Bancroft were all transported to Avera Holy Family Hospital by Estherville Ambulance, for treatment of their injuries.
The pickup is a total loss. Assisting at the scene was the Wallingford Fire Department and First Responders, Estherville Police and Estherville Fire Department.,
The accident remains under investigation.
Havelock, IA (KICD) -- A Havelock man is injured after the motorcycle he was riding struck a deer.
The Clay County Sheriffs Office says the accident occurred around 11-am Monday, in the 1400 mile of Highway 10. A 2004 Honda ST 1300, driven by 57-year old George Pirie was westbound on Highway 10, when a deer entered the roadway.
Pirie was unable to avoid a collision with the deer, causing him to lose control of the motorcycle. Pirie suffered non-incapacitating injuries as a result of the crash, and the Honda sustained approximately $5000 in damage.
Emmetsburg, IA (KICD) -- An Emmmetsburg woman received minor injuries after a two vehicle accident.
The Emmetsburg Police Department said on Tuesday, Betty Merrill was southbound in the 1000 block of Broadway, in a 2002 Chrysler Sebring, travelling in the outside lane.
A 2011 Freightliner semi tractor-trailer was also heading south on Broadway on the inside lane. The Freightliner attempted to make a right turn onto 11th Street, driving into the path of Merrill, causing a collision.
Merrill had minor pain and sought medical treatment on her own. the semi driver, Glen Rumsey of Council Bluffs was not injured in the crash.
Damage to the Sebring was estimated at $2000, and $1500 to the semi. Rumsey was cited for Turning From an Improper Lane.
Hospers, IA (KICD)--A Hospers woman is arrested on drug charges Wednesday.
An anonymous tip to the Sioux County Sheriff reported illegal drug use at a Hospers home. The tipster also reported that a six year old child was living in the residence. As a result of the investigation 40-year-old Pauline McDonald was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Since this is
the third possession of drugs violation for McDonald it becomes an enhanced drug charge, a class D felony.
The Iowa DHS assisted.
Gilmore City, IA (KICD) -- A Gilmore City man is jailed on several felony drug charges.
On Tuesday, the Pocahontas County Sheriff's Department arrested 60-year old Wayne Anderson on a Humboldt County warrant for charges of Delivery of a Controlled Substance-Hydrocodone, a class C felony, three counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance-Morphine, a class C felony, and three counts of a Drug Tax Stamp Violation, a class D felony.
The Sheriff's office also obtained a seizure warrant on a 1996 Chevy Blazer in Andersen's possession. He is currently being held in the Humboldt County Jail on a $55,000 cash or surety bond.
