(Update)--Armstrong Boil Order



Armstrong, IA (KICD)--Citizens in the city of Armstrong are being asked to boil their water through the weekend.

City Clerk Connie Thackery tells KICD News an incident occurred when crews were performing maintenance on their old water tower Wednesday night.

Repairs are still taking place. Thackery says citizens should continue to operate under a boil advisory noting that even if the problem is fixed today, it will take around 48 hours to fill both of the town's water towers with treated water.

During the boil advisory you should boil water vigorously for three minutes prior to use;
Use only boiled water for drinking, brushing teeth,diluting fruit juices and all other food preparations or consumption;
Do not use ice from a household automatic icemaker
or use any ice made with unboiled water;
Remake ice cubes with water that has been boiled or buy ice;
Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water;
and let water cool sufficiently before drinking.
